Laptop Power Adapters

Probably the one thing that holds the most importance or priority in a laptop is its batter.  Laptop computer batteries vary in the length of time they last and generally speaking, the smaller ones seem to last the longest.  Overtime though all of the batteries lose their life and if you wait too long, your battery may not even last more than a few minutes off of the laptop power adapter.

The majority of laptop batteries are made of lithium and/or nickel cadmium which is better at retaining power for a longer period of time.  These batteries immediately begin working the second that you unplug them from the adapter or wall outlet.  The newer they are the longer they are going to last, but not all computer batteries are going to wear the same or last as long.

There are too many things that come into play so to speak to know just how long your battery is going to last at any given time.  There are a few things that you can do though to ensure your battery does last as long as possible.

One of the easiest ways to get the most juice from laptop computer batteries is to adjust your laptops power settings.  Yes it is that simple!  You can switch your computer to lower settings but you may not be able to use all of the normal functions of your laptop.

This should go without saying but make sure that it is charged all the way up before you pull the plug from the wall.  Most laptops will give a charge indicator on the outside of the laptop and on the window as well.  You should also make sure to shut your computer all the way down when you are not using it.

If none of the above is working to keep it charged for very long, you may just need to buy another battery.  It would be helpful to have a few different batteries that you could use to swap in and out as they ran out but you would be better off not having to do this because these batteries can run in the hundreds of dollars.  Depending on how new your laptop is or how much it is worth, you may be better off just buying a new laptop.

If you are in the market for a new laptop and want one that is guaranteed to last for more than 3 hours, get a smaller one.  These notebook sized computers may not be able to perform all of the same functions as a big screen HD laptop would but they will for sure outperform them in the way of battery time.

Laptop computer batteries normally don’t perform as well as we’d like and that is just something we are going to have to deal with for the time being.  Use the tips above to get the most out of your battery, and if you need more battery you may just have to spend money for a replacement or just a new laptop.
